Kenteman unveils ‘Kente Love’ to champion unity through kente culture

Originally reported by MyJoyOnline (Isaac Yeboah)

Eugene Nene Agyeman Cropper, widely known as Kenteman, has released ‘Kente Love (Kente Concept)’, a Kentemusic piece that fuses Highlife with other popular styles and carries a nostalgic ‘old school’ vibe reminiscent of the disco era. The song highlights themes of togetherness, describing kente love as unconditional and agape, and invites listeners to experience authentic kente in the Ashanti and Volta regions.

Kenteman, a bassist, singer, arranger, composer and producer, has long used his music to promote kente fashion. His sister, Queen of Highlife Asabia Cropper, provides backing vocals on the track. Recent releases such as ‘We Wear Kente Colours’ and ‘People of the World’ also celebrate unity and will appear alongside ‘Kente Love’ on an upcoming 12-track Kentemusic album.

Having worked with Ghanaian bands like Sweet Talks and Black Hustlers and previously logged time with the Eboni Record label in Cote d’Ivoire, where he played on some of Mory Kante’s recordings, Kenteman focuses on cultural advocacy rather than elaborate arrangements. The track is presented as a danceable, free-flowing piece intended to remind listeners to be proud of their heritage and share it with the world.
