King Promise releases Chelsea anthem for African fans

Originally reported by MyJoyOnline (Fentuo Tahiru)

Ghanaian singer King Promise has collaborated with Premier League side Chelsea to create an official anthem for the club’s supporters across Africa. The song, titled “Can’t Tame Us (Chelsea Anthem)”, was written by the artist as part of Chelsea’s initiative to deepen its connection with African fans and was released in September.

The accompanying video was shot in Accra at the Rent Paid Football Exhibition Tournament venue and Nungua SDA Park, a site where King Promise first played football. Footage from the tournament, which gathered local Chelsea fan groups, is interwoven with scenes of the musician performing at the park.

Director Derrick Arthur oversaw the video production, while Chelsea brand director Scott Fenton described the partnership as a natural fit, noting the artist’s long-standing support for the club. Fenton added that the project aims to celebrate African supporters and the culture surrounding Chelsea beyond match time.

King Promise, a lifelong Chelsea fan, has indicated that the anthem forms part of a broader partnership that also includes a documentary filmed in Ghana, further cementing his musical ties with the club.
