Piesie Esther says TGMA row hasn’t soured ties with Diana Hamilton

Originally reported by MyJoyOnline (Kwame Dadzie)

Gospel musician Piesie Esther has said the controversy surrounding the 2026 Telecel Ghana Music Awards has not damaged her relationship with fellow gospel artist Diana Hamilton. The dispute arose when supporters of both singers argued over which of them deserved a place in the Artiste of the Year category, a slot Piesie missed while her track “Nyame Ye” was placed in the Most Popular Song and Gospel Song of the Year categories.

Fans of Piesie claimed her song had greater impact and that the organisers had erred by selecting Diana Hamilton for the top category. Some radio and television personalities who backed Piesie criticised the nomination process and suggested it had been compromised.

Speaking on Daybreak Hitz on Hitz FM with Doreen Avio and Kwame Dadzie, Piesie affirmed that any alleged rift would not exist. “Not at all. That [a rift between Diana and me] will not be possible,” she said. She added that she was disappointed not to be nominated for Artiste of the Year, noting, “I was. I wouldn’t pretend,” and mentioned she sometimes avoided social media because of frightening comments.

Piesie, who has recently released a new song titled “Great Change”, is preparing for the fifth edition of her Flora By Grace concert, scheduled for 1 November in Accra and 15 November in Kumasi.
